What Is YSR Aarogyasri Scheme 2024?

The YSR Aarogyasri Scheme was launched by the government of Andhra Pradesh in the year 2017 with the motive of helping poor families and the scheme is still in operational mode. The government is providing financial assistance and pays the bills for medical treatments or surgeries for the beneficiaries. During the COVID pandemic, more than 100000 Corona patients get treatment and receive benefits. Under this scheme, in some cases, the hospital bills paid by the government are more than many families’ annual income. The Government of Andhra Pradesh has spent 309 crores to cure more than 19033 corona patients. This is a great initiative taken by any state government during a COVID-19 pandemic for the treatment in government hospitals. Objectives of the YSR Aarogyasri Scheme

The main objective of launching the YSR Aarogyasri Scheme is to provide financial support or free medical treatment to poor families or below-poverty-line families who were not able to afford high medical treatment for surgery charges. The candidates who get registered under the scheme will receive an Aarogyasri card to avail of free treatment in government hospitals. The aim is to provide good quality healthcare and treatment under specialized doctors. In a few years, the death rate in Andhra Pradesh will decline due to the implementation of the scheme.

Benefits of the YSR Aarogyasri Scheme

The Government of Andhra Pradesh always launches various schemes for their citizens or people who belong below the poverty line to financially support them and provide employment. Now they are launching another scheme for poor families by providing health-related services, it may be providing medicines, treatment, or surgeries in government hospitals.

Cashless healthcare

  • Under this scheme, the beneficiary will receive free treatment in hospitals.
  • There is a financial cover of 5 lakh per year for the beneficiary and his or her family.

In-patient care

  • The patient will get good-quality treatment from specialized doctors.

Pre-existing disease cover

  • If the beneficiary is suffering from any disease which is listed in the scheme before registering then it will be covered. This feature is not provided under many health insurance policies.

Follow-up treatments cover

  • After the discharge patient can visit the hospital for their follow-up treatments and it is also a cashless service.

Features of the YSR Aarogyasri Scheme

Following a successful enrollment, the family will receive a YSR health card. The card contains the beneficiary’s picture, a special number, and other crucial information. At the network hospitals, the card is utilized to access the necessary cashless benefits. The following are a few YSR Aarogyasri health card features:

  • The cardholder is eligible for an Rs. 1.5 lakh reimbursement.
  • The cardholder can take advantage of additional advantages of Rs 50,000 if the expenses exceed 1.5 lakh.
  • The card offers Rs. 2 lakh in coverage for serious sickness and medical expenses.
  • Under the program, 938 medical and surgical procedures are available.

 YSR Aarogyasri extended in other states

The YSR  Aarogyasri Scheme was launched in the year of 2017. The aim is to provide free medical treatment to BPL families. When the scheme was started it was only operational in 7 districts of Andhra Pradesh but now the remaining districts of Andhra Pradesh namely Srikakulam, East Godavari, Krishna, Chittoor, and Anantapur are also included under the scheme. In this scheme, if the medical treatment charge is more than 1000 rupees then the cost will be paid by the government of Andhra Pradesh. There are more than 1500 diseases covered under the scheme and 234 more diseases are added which cover around 2200 diseases that are curable under this scheme.

Implementation Process for Patients

  • A beneficiary suffering from an alignment can visit the official website for registration and take benefits under the YSR Aarogyasri Scheme. There are three modes of op capture VidyaMithra counter at PHC. 
  • If a patient gets registered in a health camp organized by the PHC NWHs can directly visit the hospital in an emergency case or through a referral.
  • Biometric registration- the patient registers online at the portal. Capturing digital images of the patient when they visit the hospital for the first time.
  • When patients visit the hospital for the first one some tests and diagnoses are performed to check if the patient needs to be admitted to the hospital then the patient is converted into an in-patient. And if not then for further the patient is evaluated there as an outpatient initially and after asserting the diagnosis and finalizing treatment the patient is converted to an inpatient in the online workflow.
  • Final diagnosis and characterization are done after the evaluation of the patient. If the patient is suffering from any listed therapies then medical should submit the pre-authorization by the trust portal within 24 hours.
  • If the patient is found to be suffering from any disease that is not listed in the therapy of that hospital, he or she should be referred to the nearest government hospital for further treatment.
  • The NWH provides cashless service within the package of the patient and may apply for enhancement of the package prize in case of exigences before discharge as per trust guidelines.
  • As the patient is discharged after his complete recovery NWH issues a summary of discharge and the patient will follow up for counseling. A letter of satisfactory service should be obtained from the beneficiary at the time of discharge.

Eligibility Criteria 

  • To get benefits under the scheme the applicant should be a permanent citizen of Andhra Pradesh.
  • The candidate belongs to a below-poverty-line family.
  • The annual income of the family should not be more than 5 lakh.
  • The applicant must not have land of more than 35 acres.
  • The candidate cannot own more than one car.
  • Families should file income tax of up to rupees 5 lakh to get benefits under this scheme.
  • The candidate must have less than 3000 square feet of area.
  • Applicants must have a white ration card.
