About Antyodaya Anna Yojana

Antyodaya Anna Yojana is one of the most important initiatives undertaken by the Government of India. It is a public distribution system scheme that was implemented in 2000 to deliver food security to the people of India to end hunger. The main beneficiaries of the अन्‍त्‍योदय अन्‍न योजना are the poor people of the country who are not able to get food or essential commodities and the essential commodities and foods are provided at subsidized rates to the poorest people of the country to help their daily needs. The Antyodaya Yojana was first implemented in the Rajasthan state and it was developed by the Union Food And Civil Supplies Minister. Objective Of अन्‍त्‍योदय अन्‍न योजना 

All of the poor people of India will be able to get food and other commodities under the Antyodaya Anna Yojana at a subsidized rate and the authorities will provide them with food grains also. The people will be able to get wheat at Rupees 3 per kg and rice at Rs 2 per kg and all of the eligible families will be able to get 35 kg of rice every month. Families who come under the section can also buy 1 kg of sugar at a rate of rupees 18.5 0 per kg through ration shops in their respective areas. The beneficiaries are identified by the state and the central government and different types of ration cards are provided to the beneficiaries so that they can be distributed in different stages. This is a very well-developed scheme presented by the Indian Government.

Benefits Of Antyodaya Anna Yojana

The main benefit of the scheme is the availability of different types of ration cards to all of the beneficiaries and these many fisheries will be able to get free-of-cost food products available to them so that they can continue their lives without having to worry about food for the night. The allocation of food grains is done every month under this scheme and around 8.5 lakh tonnes of food is to all of the beneficiaries of this scheme. The scheme was presented by the Indian government in early 2000 to provide proper opportunities for all of the people who were otherwise not able to get proper food to continue their lives and were suffering from hunger. There are different types of ration cards provided to the beneficiaries according to their economic condition.

Eligibility Criteria

The applicant must follow the following eligibility criteria to apply for the अन्‍त्‍योदय अन्‍न योजना  2023:-

  • The people who are terminally ill or widows disabled persons persons aged 60 years or more or single women or single men with no family or societal support or assured means of subsistence. 
  • Landless labourers in agriculture, rural people who are into arts, and marginal farmers are also part of this project. 
  • Rural artisans are craftsmen such as potters, weavers, blacksmiths, carpenters, and slum dwellers.
  • Also, a household with widows or patients who are terminally ill and who are the heads of their families is eligible. 
  • Terminally ill patients or widows who are living alone are also eligible. 
  • Tribal people and HIV-positive persons who are below the poverty line are eligible for this programme. 
  • The eligible people should not have assured means of subsistence or societal support. 
  • Families with an annual income of less than Rs.15000 are eligible for this plan too.
Documents Required

The following documents are required in order to successfully apply for this scheme:-

  • BPL certificate
  • Income Certificate
  • Deletion certificate or an Affidavit which says that the beneficiary doesn’t have any ration card in the previous years.

Antyodaya Anna Yojana 2024 Application Procedure 

There is no particular application procedure that you need to follow to apply for the Antyodaya Anna Yojana. The applicants who have successfully applied for the ration card in their respective states will be able to get the benefit of the scheme if they belong to the economically backward section of the society or if they have a colored Ration card as per the rules and regulations mentioned by your state government. You need to visit your nearest PDS center and give them your ration card to know more about the offers available for you and the subsidized products that are available for you.
