Objective of Banishree Scholarship

Reader’s Allowance And Transportation Allowance

Under the Banishree Scholarship, the Government of Odisha offers readers’ allowances to visually impaired students. The government would pay Rs 100 per month for primary classes. The government will contribute Rs 150 per month for middle and high school and Rs 200 per month for all other studies. This help will only be given if the institution’s director attests that the candidate hired a reader throughout the study period. In addition, students with orthopaedic disabilities who are 75% or more disabled will receive a monthly transportation stipend of Rs 100 because they will need specific transportation arrangements.

Implementation of Banishree Scholarship 

The district social welfare officer is in charge of ordering enough forms for distribution. The heads of schools, colleges, and other educational institutions, as well as sub-collectors and block development officers, will receive these forms from him or her. All students who wish to take advantage of the Banishree Scholarship should fill out an application. They must then deliver these forms to the institution’s administrator. The block development officer or sub-collector will transmit the scholarship. The institution’s leader must cross-reference the candidate’s information with their records before approving it. The educational institution will next submit these applications to the BDO or the sub-collector. The BDO or sub-collector will deposit the scholarship money in two payments into the recipient’s bank accounts.

Sanctioning Authority Of Banishree Scholarship

  • If the high school or other educational facility is located in a rural location, the responsible block development officer must approve the scholarship.
  • The sub-collector must be sanctioned with a scholarship if the school or educational institution is located in an urban area.
  • The application must be verified by the educational institution’s head using the records they have on hand, and they must then suggest sanctions to the BDO or sub-collector.
  • The sub-collector or BDO will approve the scholarship in regard to the municipality, NAC areas, or rural regions after receiving the application.

Mode of Payment of Banishree Scholarship 

  • The BDO or sub-collector would deposit the money of the scholarship into the students’ bank accounts after receiving payment from the state government.
  • After the institution’s head has completed all necessary verification of attendance, the benefit amount will be deposited in instalments.
  • After depositing the scholarship into the student’s account, the BDO/Sub collector will give the district social welfare officer a utilisation certificate.

  • The scholarship amount under this programme will be provided from the student’s admission month to the end of the academic year, which includes an examination month.

Eligibility Criteria
