e-RUPI has been launched by the Honorable prime minister on 2nd august, a cashless and contactless instrument that will be used to make digital payments. It has been developed by the National Payment Corporation of India on its UPI platform. Department of Finance services, Ministry of health and family welfare, National health authority, and partner banks is the collaborating partners. It is a QR code or SMS string-based e-voucher which will forward to the mobile of the users. The users will be able to redeem this voucher without any digital payment app, internet banking, or card.

The objective of Prime Minister Narendra Modi behind e-RUPI Digital Payment is to make Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) more effective in digital transactions in the country and give a new dimension to digital governance. The idea behind e-RUPI is to create minimal logistics, a leak-proof delivery mechanism for a wide range of government Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) programs across the country.
Features of e-RUPI Digital Payment
- To sponsor the benefits and services to the beneficiary, the e-RUPI voucher is an end-to-end digital solution.
- A voucher can be issued by the sponsor with the support of the Issuer Bank
- It is a one-time and multi-time use contactless cashless voucher-based mode of payment.
- It will help users redeem the voucher without a card digital payment app or internet banking access
- It is a person-specific and purpose-specific digital voucher
- The beneficiary will receive the voucher on the mobile in the form of an SMS or QR code

Principles of e-RUPI Digital Payment
- A voucher can be created or revolved on the request of the sponsor
- The limit of eRUPI vouchers for government schemes is rupees 1 lakh per voucher and rupees 10000 per voucher for private entities
- It is allowed to redeem for p2m purchases only
- It is acceptable on any UPI merchant acceptance point or at a specific location as per the designed scheme
- On every voucher, there is a Digitally validated redemption
- Voucher validity is defined by the issuer bank/ pair PSP as per the use cases
- The validity of the voucher cannot be more than 1 year

Uses of e-RUPI Voucher
Can be used for sponsorship/ distribution of goods and services to the beneficiary like

e-RUPI Flow
- The sponsor (government/ corporate department) will share the information to issue the voucher to the issuer Bank
- Bank will initiate the request to generate an e-RUPI voucher for NPCI
- NPCI will respond to the bank with success confirmation
- Bank confirms the generation of voucher back to the sponsor
- The voucher will further be distributed to the beneficiaries in the form of a QR or SMS string
- Beneficiary reaches the merchant with voucher redemption
- The merchant will scan the voucher for validation, verify beneficiaries and initiate a redemption request
- Post confirmation the merchant will provide service to the beneficiary.

- To view you should open the Digital Payment website of the National Payment Corporation of India
- From the home page of the portal go to the what we do option
- Drop down list will open on the screen choose the eRUPI option
- Then choose eRupi Live Partners option from the further open list
- A new page will open from where you need to hit Live Hospitals on the e-RUPI option

Download e-RUPI Digital Payment Mobile App
- To download the application, you have to open the google play store on your mobile phone
- Go to the search bar and type eRUPI digital payment app
- Search and list of applications will open on the screen
- Click on the first application shown in the list
- Click on the install option and let it download & install on your phone.
