What is Fame India Scheme 2024
Fame India Scheme has been launched by the National Automotive Board, Ministry of Heavy Industries, and the Government of India. This scheme has been initiated to encourage the people of the country to prefer electric and hybrid vehicles instead of diesel and petrol vehicles. Fame India Scheme is also known as “Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric and Hybrid Vehicles in India”. This scheme is a part of the National Electric Mobility Mission Plan. The first phase of the scheme has already ended in March 2019. Now the government is initiating the second phase of the scheme.

Fame India Scheme Phase II
The second phase of the initiative has already been started and is going to end on 31 March 2024. Earlier the second phase of the scheme is going to end in March 2022 but the government has extended it till 2024. During the second phase, the government of India will provide 670 electric buses in the states of Maharashtra, Goa, Gujarat, and Chandigarh. Moreover, 241 charging stations will also be provided during this phase on the roads of Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Gujarat, and Port Blair. As the government extended the same duration the government has also increased the subsidy incentive from rupees 10000 per kwh to 15000 per kwh.

Fame India Scheme Implementation
To implement the Fame India Scheme effectively the Government of India has sanctioned a budget of Rs. 10000 crores. Yet the Government has more than 7000 crore rupees unused. The government has decided to split the budget balance for the coming years into Rs 3775 crore for 2022-23 and Rs 3514 crore for 2023-24.
Objective Of Fame India Scheme
The objective of the Fame India Scheme Phase II is to generate demand by way of supporting 7000 e-Buses, 5 lakh e-3 Wheelers, 55000 e-4 Wheeler Passenger Cars (including Strong Hybrid) and 10 lakh e-2 Wheelers.
