The Manipur Cabinet extended the state’s designation as a “disturbed area” and approved a Permanent Housing Scheme for displaced individuals on Saturday. Along with denouncing the “unwanted actions” of the Central security forces on residents in the Pallel area on Friday, the Cabinet led by Chief Minister Nongthombam Biren Singh also decided to inform the Center of the event, which has resulted in three fatalities thus far. More than 4800 people around the state will receive a sum of Rs 10 lakh for the construction of damaged or burned-out pucca dwellings, Rs 7 lakh for semi-pucca houses, and Rs 5 lakh for kutcha houses. Two installments of cash aid will be given. By presenting photos of ongoing work utilizing the first installment amount, beneficiaries can apply through the concerned Deputy Commissioners for the second payment amount.
