This scheme will reduce poverty in Tamil Nadu State by providing various benefits and financial assistance to all the poor families in Tamil Nadu state. This scheme aims to lift The standard of living of more than 5 lakh families living in the poorest section of the Tamil Nadu state.

To help the poorest families in the Tamil Nadu State, the Tamil Nadu State Government announced the launch of the Asha Chief Minister Thayumanavar Tamil Nadu. The finance minister of Tamil Nadu State has said that this scheme will help 5 lakh poorest families of Tamil Nadu State to get a comfortable life. The Minister also said that under the scheme, the most vulnerable sections of society, including the needy, elderly persons living alone, single-parent families, orphaned children, those with mental impairments, persons with disabilities and families with children requiring special assistance would be identified.
