Eligibility Criteria for Schools

  • The CBSE database was used to identify the top-performing private residential schools, and district authorities in 2021–2022 recommended these institutions under SHRESHTA.
  • The schools must have been operational for a minimum of five years and possess sufficient facilities to accept ten (10) more SC students into the ninth and eleventh grades.
  • Following the rules and circumstances of the program, the schools must approve the admission of students under SHRESHTA.
  • Schools covered under the scheme that have been sponsored under PM-AJAY/Samgra Shiksha Scheme/PM SHRI Schools of DoSEL shall not be covered under this Scheme. Examples of schools funded by the Central Government are NVS, EMRS (under 10% quota), KGBV, State Govt. schools, and so on.

Eligibility Criteria for Students

  • Under this course, applications are only accepted from students who belong to scheduled castes.
  • For the duration of the current academic year, the student must enroll in classes between eighth and tenth.
  • The total yearly income of the parents should not exceed Rs. 2.5 lakh.
  • Applicants for the ninth grade must be born on or before March 31, 2010, except for April 1, 2006.
  • It is required that applicants for the class of 2011 be born between April 1, 2004, and March 31, 2008.

National Entrance Test for SHRESTHA

  • The “National Entrance Test for SHRESHTA (NETS)” is a nationwide merit test that determines admission to schools based on merit.
  • ii. The National Testing Agency (NTA) would administer the NETS.
  • iii. The exam would be given anywhere in the county.
  • iv. A selection of SHRESHTA schools would be made available to the chosen kids.
  • v. The NIC will create an online counseling system so that this option can be used. There may be more than one round of online counseling to make sure every spot is taken.
