About Tamil Nadu Urban Employment Scheme 2024

The Tamil Nadu Urban Employment Scheme has been introduced by the Tamil Nadu government. This programme aims to increase employment opportunities while also creating and maintaining public assets to provide a means of subsistence and social security. For the years 2021–2022, this programme will be implemented on a pilot basis in two zones of the Greater Chennai Corporation, 1 zone in each of the 14 municipal corporations, 1 municipality in each of the 7 regions, and 1 Panchayat in each of the 37 districts. The government has set out Rs 100 crore to carry out this programme. This programme is based on proposals given by a group under the direction of C Rangarajan, a former governor of the Reserve Bank of India. 50% of each person’s day will be set aside for women under this plan. For the same unskilled and semi-skilled employment, men and women will receive equal pay.
