The state of Telangana is famous for its skillful handloom weavers. The Telangana government has launched the Telangana Chenetha Maggam Scheme to aid handloom weavers. As part of this program, new machines would be given to every handloom weaver in Telangana State. Replacing all existing equipment will be carried out using newly installed equipment. The government raised the handloom weavers’ retirement age from 59 to 75 years of age. According to the above scheme, each device shall be repaired at an amount of INR 38,000. A 5-lakh payment would be made within 10 days to the family of a handloom craftsman who passes away for whatever cause. As a result, production will increase, and quality will increase. Furthermore, an identity card would be issued for handloom weavers and the ex-gratia payment of weavers’ members would rise to 25 thousand rupees from 12,500.

Moreover, the government has made a significant change by extending the retirement age for handloom weavers from 59 to 75 years. The entire expense of replacing the machinery as part of this program will be covered by the government.
