The Government of India launched the Thalassemia Bal Sewa Yojana (TBSY). To provide financial assistance and other benefits to all the children in India who are affected by Thalassemia the government of India announced the launch of the Thalassemia Bal Sewa Yojana (TBSY). Under the TBSY, the Union Ministry of Health and Family Affairs provides financial assistance of INR 10 lakh to all patients who are suffering from thalassemia. All the applicants who clear the eligibility criteria must fill out the registration form on the official website to avail the benefits of the Yojana (TBSY).

About Thalassemia Bal Sewa Yojana (TBSY)

The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of India launched the Thalassemia Bal Sewa Yojana (TBSY) to provide financial assistance to children’s war affected by Thalassemia disease. Thalassemia is a genetic blood disorder that transfers from parents to their children. In thalassemia the hemoglobin level in the body is very low which creates problems and to treat the disorder there will be a need for blood transfusion. The financial assistance of INR 10 lakh will be given to the selected patients under the Thalassemia Bal Sewa (TBSY). The tbsy is supported by Coal India Limited (CIL) as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

The objective of Thalassemia Bal Sewa Yojana

The main objective of launching Thalassemia Bal Sewa Yojana is family who are suffering from the Thalassemia disease. The main aim of launching the scheme is to help the citizens of India who were suffering from Thalassemia disease as much as possible. Coal India Limited (CIL) is one of the first PSUs to take up a CSR project for curative treatment of Thalassemia. Financial assistance up to Rs.10 lacs is provided to ten prominent hospitals spread across the country for Bone Marrow Transplants of eligible patients. All the applicants who clear the eligibility criteria must fill out the application form on the official website to avail the benefits of the yojana.

  • The patient’s age must be 12 years or less.
  • The patient’s family income should be Rs. 8 lakhs per annum or less.

Clinical Requirements

  • The patient must have transfusion-dependent Thalassemia.
  • The patient should have a 100% HLA-matched sibling donor (minimum matching ratio: 6/6).
  • The patient must be other than Class IIIB patients, liver size of the patient to be less than 5 cm. below the coastal margin.

  • The scheme will be implemented to provide relief to patients who are suffering from Thalassemia disease.
  • With the implementation of this scheme, the patients will get financial assistance of INR 10 lakh for their treatment of thalassemia.
  • The Coal India Limited has supported the Union Ministry of Healthcare and Family Welfare for the implementation of this scheme.
